Prayer for Priest’s Purity

Heavenly Father, each one of your priests have been grafted into the one high priesthood of Jesus Christ. Through their ministry, we pray that your Word be ever upon their lips and in their hearts, your anointing ever upon their hands and in their memory, and your Most Holy Face ever be their gaze and united with them in prayer and petition. Lord, always look upon your priests with unfailing Divine Mercy and protect them from all sins of the flesh, especially the sins against purity. 

Lord in particular I want to pray for (priest’s name). When he is tempted toward impurity, lead him to deny his flesh and mortify his self-will. Teach him to always trust in your grace, especially in his weakness. Remind him every day of the perfect love of his mother in heaven, Mary Most Holy, who loves her priests as she loves her son Jesus. 

May (priest’s name)’s life be a perpetual sacrifice of love in complete obedience to his priestly promise to chastity. May he practice great diligence in the virtue of purity, fortifying his will and granting him the grace to protect his unruly emotions and transform his disordered desires.

Holy Spirit, warm (priest’s name)’s heart with the burning fire of your love, which is perfect charity and the fulfillment of all desire. May your burning charity become an iron shield against all temptations and build him up as a holy fortress, steadfast and true. 

Heavenly Father, I ask you to inspire (priest’s name) to the path of humility of heart, so that in his ministry as a chosen son for the holy priesthood, he may, in perfect fidelity to you, always remain pure of heart, stainless of mind and chaste of body.

We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, and through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Most Chaste Heart of Saint Joseph. Amen.
